"And We send down of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy for the believers."

Surah Al-Isra · 17:82

Ayat ash-Shifa

The Six Verses of Healing

Across the Quran, Allah names His revelation a shifa — a healing. Classical scholars gathered six ayahs where healing is mentioned, recited for centuries in the prophetic tradition of ruqyah.

Surah At-Tawbah · 9:14

"…and He heals the hearts of the believing people."

Revealed in the context of standing firm against oppression — healing follows courage in the path of truth.

Surah Yunus · 10:57

"…a healing for what lies within the hearts."

Paired with guidance and mercy — the Quran treats the heart before it treats the body.

Surah An-Nahl · 16:69

"…in it there is healing for mankind."

Of the honey that flows from the bee — a sign for people who reflect on Allah's design.

Surah Al-Isra · 17:82

"And We send down of the Quran that which is a healing."

The Quran itself, in its entirety, is described as a source of shifa for those who believe.

Surah Ash-Shu'ara · 26:80

"And when I fall ill, it is He who cures me."

The words of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) — a model of attributing cure to Allah alone.

Surah Fussilat · 41:44

"Say: for those who believe, it is a guidance and a healing."

A direct instruction to the Prophet ﷺ on how to describe the Quran to those who ask.

Remembrance of Allah

"Truly, it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts find rest."

Surah Ar-Ra'd · 13:28

Before any remedy, there is dhikr. Begin with the five phrases the Prophet ﷺ loved most — counted, as they have always been, one after another.

SubhanAllahGlory be to Allah AlhamdulillahAll praise is for Allah La ilaha illallahNone is worthy of worship but Allah Allahu AkbarAllah is the Greatest Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeelAllah is sufficient for us

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ruqyah, and is it permissible in Islam?

Ruqyah is the practice of reciting the Quran and authentic supplications for healing and protection. It is an established Sunnah — the Prophet ﷺ said "there is no harm in ruqyah as long as it involves no shirk" (Sahih Muslim 2200). It must contain only the words of Allah, His Names, or supplications in a language understood.

Is wearing a Taweez allowed in Islam?

Scholars differ on this question. Many classical scholars, including companions such as Abdullah ibn Amr (RA) according to some reports, permitted taweez containing only Quranic verses and the Names of Allah, while others discouraged all amulets. What is agreed upon: anything containing other than the words of Allah is impermissible, and no taweez benefits by itself — all benefit is from Allah alone. We follow the position of permissibility with strict conditions, and explain both views openly in our methodology.

What is a Coded Dua (Naqsh)?

A naqsh is a traditional written arrangement of Quranic verses, the Names of Allah, and their numerical values (abjad), prepared by hand for a specific need. It comes from the later scholarly tradition rather than direct prophetic practice, so on our evidence scale it is graded and labelled accordingly — we are always transparent about where each practice comes from.

Which Surah should I recite for success and rizq?

Surah Al-Waqiah is most closely associated with rizq in the scholarly tradition, alongside consistent istighfar (Surah Nuh 71:10–12 links seeking forgiveness with provision) and the dua Rabbi zidni ilma for knowledge and success. Our Wealth & Rizq hub covers each practice with its source and grade.

How quickly will I see results?

We make no promises of worldly outcomes, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Allah answers every sincere dua in one of three ways — by granting it, by averting a harm, or by storing its reward — as taught in the hadith of Musnad Ahmad. Our role is to guide toward authentic practice; the results belong to Allah alone.
