Surah for Marriage & Love | Quranic Dua for Spouse and Harmony

Surah for Marriage and Love: Quranic Sources for a Spouse and Family Harmony

In short: For marriage the most relevant Quranic sources are Surah Ar-Rum 21 on love and mercy between spouses, the supplication of the servants of the Merciful in Surah Al-Furqan 74, and Surah At-Tahrim on household conduct. The Names Ya Wadud and Ya Jami are the most commonly invoked. Nothing here is a means of compelling another person’s affection.

This page does not deal in love spells or in anything intended to bind or influence another person’s will. Practices of that kind fall under sihr regardless of the language used to describe them, and they are prohibited. What follows concerns supplication for a righteous spouse and for harmony in one’s own home.

This page gathers every chapter of the Quran and every name of Allah that the tradition connects to finding a spouse, marital harmony, love and family relationships. Each entry carries an evidence label so you can see at a glance whether a benefit rests on authentic hadith, on classical scholarly usage, or on a narration whose chain is contested. We publish the grading rather than hiding it — a great deal of what circulates in this subject is presented with more confidence than the sources support.

The Five Most Recommended, in Depth

1. Surah Ar-Rum (30)

Verse 21 is the defining marriage verse of the Quran: among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, that you may find tranquillity in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. The two words used — mawaddah and rahmah — describe love in its early intensity and the mercy that carries a marriage after that intensity settles. Tier A.

2. Surah Al-Furqan (25)

Verse 74 is the supplication of the servants of the Most Merciful: our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us a leader for the righteous. This is the Quran’s own template for asking for a spouse, and note what it asks for — comfort and righteousness, not a particular person.

3. Surah At-Tahrim (66)

Concerns a difficulty within the Prophet’s own household and closes with Asiyah, the wife of Pharaoh, praying for a house near her Lord in Paradise while trapped in the worst marriage in scripture. For anyone whose home is not harmonious, this surah is more honest company than any chapter promising ease.

4. Surah Al-Mujadila (58)

Opens with a woman disputing with the Prophet ﷺ about her husband, and the response is that Allah has heard her. A full chapter of the Quran takes its name from one woman’s marital grievance being heard from above the seven heavens. Recited by anyone who feels their difficulty in marriage is invisible.

5. Ya Wadud & Ya Jami (Names 47 & 87)

Al-Wadud is the Most Loving — the source of love itself rather than an instrument for extracting it from a particular person. Al-Jami is the Gatherer, the one who brings together what is separated, invoked for reconciliation and for the joining of a marriage. Ya Latif and Ya Halim are turned to for gentleness and forbearance within an existing marriage.

How to Use This Properly

Everything on this page is a means — what the scholars call a sabab. A means is something Allah has made a cause of benefit. It is not a mechanism that compels an outcome, and the difference between those two ideas is the difference between worship and superstition.

Three conditions were set by the classical scholars for any recitation or written remedy to be permissible, and they are agreed upon across the schools:

  1. It must consist of the Quran, the names and attributes of Allah, or authentic supplication — nothing unknown, no symbols whose meaning cannot be read.
  2. It must be in Arabic or in language whose meaning is understood, so that nothing objectionable is being said unknowingly.
  3. The one reciting must believe the effect comes from Allah alone, and never from the words, the paper, the ink or the practitioner.

Alongside this, the Quran consistently pairs supplication with action. Surah Al-Jumu’ah tells the believers to seek provision after the prayer ends. Musa still had to face Pharaoh after asking for ease. Recitation that replaces effort, medical treatment or honest dealing contradicts the very texts being recited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which surah should I read to get married?

Surah Al-Furqan 74 is the Quran’s own supplication for a righteous spouse and offspring. Surah Ar-Rum 21 is recited for the quality of the marriage itself. Neither compels a specific outcome.

Is there a surah to make someone love me?

No, and any practice intended to bind another person’s affection falls under sihr and is prohibited regardless of how it is packaged. What is permitted is supplicating for a righteous spouse and for harmony in a marriage you are already in.

What can I recite for problems between husband and wife?

Surah At-Tahrim on household conduct, Surah Al-Hujurat on speech and assumption between believers, and Surah Fussilat 34 on repelling harm with what is better. Alongside recitation, the practical guidance in these chapters is the actual remedy.

Is there an authentic dua for finding a spouse?

Surah Al-Furqan 74 and the prophetic supplication of Musa in Surah Al-Qasas 24, which he made at his lowest point and which was followed directly by marriage and employment. Both are Tier A.

Does a marriage taweez work?

A taweez containing only Quran or authentic supplication, worn without belief in its independent power, is permitted by many classical scholars. A taweez intended to influence a specific person’s will is not, by any view. We do not produce the latter.

What if I have prayed for years and am still not married?

The Quran does not promise marriage to everyone who asks, and framing an unanswered prayer as a failure of technique is neither accurate nor kind. Delay is described in the sources as a form of decree, not as evidence that the supplication was defective.
