⏰ Optimal Times for Ruqyah
Islamic teachings specify certain times when ruqyah is especially encouraged or its effects are believed to be most pronounced. The Prophet ﷺ guided us to specific moments.
🕌 After Fajr Prayer
Hadith evidence: “Whoever recites Ayat-ul-Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be no barrier between him and his entering Paradise except death.” (Nasa’i — graded sahih by Al-Albani)
- Reciting after Fajr protects throughout the day
- Reciting after Asr protects through the evening
- Reciting after Maghrib protects through the night
🌙 After Maghrib Prayer
Prophetic practice: The Prophet ﷺ would recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas after Maghrib.
- These two surahs protect through the night
- Traditionally recited 3 times each after Maghrib
- Part of the daily adhkar (remembrance) regimen
📖 Before Sleeping
Prophetic Sunnah: “When you go to bed, recite Ayat-ul-Kursi — a protector from Allah remains over you and no devil approaches you until morning” (Bukhari); and “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him” (Bukhari & Muslim) Also: “Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Naas three times each, and it will be sufficient for you from every devil, every poison, and every bad eye.” (Sunan Abi Dawood)
- Recite the three Qul (Falaq, Naas, Ikhlas)
- Recite Ayat-ul-Kursi
- Blow lightly on oneself and lie down
- This is the most recommended nighttime ruqyah regimen
🕌 Jummah (Friday)
While there’s no specific ruqyah prescribed uniquely for Friday, the day is blessed for dhikr and worship. Many Muslims increase their recitation of Ayat-ul-Kursi and the three Qul on Jummah.
🤲 Specific Conditions That Enhance Ruqyah

| Taharah (Purity) | Wudu preferred, clean body/clothes |
| Qur’anic Source | Only Qur’an and authentic Hadith |

| After Maghrib (Daily) | 3 Qul + Ayat-ul-Kursi |
| Before Sleep (Daily) | 3 Ikhlas + 3 Falaq + 3 Naas + Ayat-ul-Kursi |
| After Any Prayer | Ayat-ul-Kursi (Sunnah according to Tirmidhi) |

⚠️ Times to Avoid
- During prohibited times — Reciting Qur’an at times when it’s discouraged (e.g., after Fajr until sunrise, after Asr until sunset, except for specified remembrance)
- When in a state of major impurity — Without wudu, though one can still remember Allah; wudu is recommended for ruqyah
- When feeling fear or anxiety overwhelming — Stop and seek knowledge; ruqyah should bring calm, not increase distress
