Surah Hujurat was revealed in Madinah and it has 18 ayat.
The Arabic word hujurat is the plural form of hujra. The fourth Verse of the Chapter treats of the rooms of the Noble Prophet’s (S) house, hence the designation Hujurat (“rooms”).The chapter also declares a universal brotherhood among Muslims.
The thirteenth verse, one of the most famous in the Quran, is understood by Muslim scholars to establish equality with regards to race and origin; only God can determine one’s nobility based on his piety.

Surah Hujurat Benefits are many, few are given below,
- Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (razi allahu anhu) has narrated that those who recite this Surah will be counted from among those who visited the Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallah la ilaha illallah wasalam. You will would be given heavenly reward ten times the number of obedient and disobedient creatures of Allah.
- If you writes Surah Hujurat on paper and wears it as a taweez around the neck would remain in peace protected from fear and apprehension during war and fighting; he would always have good in this world and in the hereafter; also if he is under the influence and effect of an evil spirit, he would get rid of the Shaytan and the Shaytan would never come near him again.
- If Surah Hujurat is written on a china plate, washed with clean water, and a mother drinks it her milk would come out, if it had dried; and she and her child would remain safe from every kind of fear and harm.
- If a pregnant woman drinks water in which Surah Hujurat has been dissolved, then both herself and her child will remain safe from danger and drinking this water also increases breast-milk in a breastfeeding mother.
- Writing Surah Hujurat and keeping it in one’s possession makes the Shaitan run away and acts as a protection in times of war and unrest.
