(The Originator) No. 35 (Revealed at Mecca) 45 Verses in 5 Sections

Surah Fatir is Makki surat, with 45 ayat. ‘Fatir’ is one of the attributes of Allah and it means ‘the Originator’. The name has been taken from the first verse of the Sura in which Allah has been introduced as ‘the Originator of the heavens and the earth’. Like other Meccan Suras, the main axis of the discussion in this Sura is about Origin, Resurrection, and struggle against polytheism.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah when he said, “O boy! I will instruct you in some matters. Be watchful of Allah (Commandments of Allah), He will preserve you. Safeguard His Rights; He will be ever with you. If you beg, beg of Him Alone; and if you need assistance, supplicate to Allah Alone for help.

And remember that if all the people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to benefit you except that which Allah had foreordained (for you); and if all of them gather to do harm to you, they will not be able to afflict you with anything other than that which Allah had pre-destined against you. The pens had been lifted and the ink had dried up”.

Another narration is: Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Safeguard the Commandments of Allah, you will find Him before you. Remember Him in prosperity and He will remember you in adversity. Be sure that which you miss, was not to hit you; and what hits you, was never to miss you.

Remember that the Help of Allah is obtained with patience, and relief emerges after distress, prosperity follows adversity, and hardship is followed by ease”. [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2516].

Benefits of Surah Fatir

If you recites Sura Saba and Surah Al-Fatir in the night would be in divine protection throughout the night, and Whoever recites these two surahs in the morning would be in divine protection throughout the day; and the recompense in this world and in the hereafter would be beyond imagination.
It is narrated that a person once came to Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (razi allahu anhu) and complained that his daughter had a problem of getting severe migraine headaches all the time. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (razi allahu anhu) placed his hand on her head and recited verse 42 Sura Fatir and she was cured.
