HAJJ<\/strong>\u00a0is among the five pillars of Islam. The literal meaning of “Hajj” is to intend or plan for and\u00a0\u00a0according to Shar’ee\u00a0<\/u>terminology it means to halt at ‘Arafaat (the vast expense near Makkah where major\u00a0Hajj\u00a0rite is performed on 9th Zilhij after having\u00a0\u00a0adopted “Ehraam”(unstitched cloths)\u00a0and to perform circumambulation of “Ka’bah” (the House of Allah).<\/p>\n Performance of some rites, ceremonies and\u00a0worships at various sacred sites in Makkah also come under\u00a0Hajj.\u00a0Hajj\u00a0is Fard once in a lifetime as mentioned in the Ahadith below.<\/p>\n Hadrat \u2018Abdullah ibn \u2018Abbas Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhuma reported that :<\/strong><\/p>\n Messenger of Allah (SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam) stated,\u00a0\u201c\u2018O People! Allah has made\u00a0Hajj\u00a0incumbent upon you.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Hadrat Aqra\u2019 ibn Habis stood up and inquired,\u00a0\u2018O Messenger of Allah! Is it incumbent each year?\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The Messenger of Allah(SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam)\u00a0 said,\u00a0\u2018If I say \u2018yes\u2019 then it would be made obligatory and incumbent upon you<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0each year, and if it was to be made\u00a0<\/u><\/em><\/strong>incumbent each year\u00a0 you would not be able to fulfill this religious duty. Thus,\u00a0Hajj\u00a0is only once in the lifetime\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n and those who exceed this (do more than once) then the (extra)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is nafl (optional).\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\ufffd<\/strong>[Mishkat, Kitab al-Manasik, Page 221]<\/strong><\/p>\n From this we understand that the Holy Prophet(peace be upon him) has full power, control and authority on Shari\u2019ah and Sacred Islamic Laws. If the<\/p>\n Messenger of Allah\u00a0<\/u>(SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam) \u00a0desired, he could have made Haj obligatory and incumbent each year.<\/p>\n \u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584<\/p>\n Hastening to do\u00a0Hajj<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584\u2584<\/p>\n Hadith On Hajj #1<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Hadrat \u2018Abdullah ibn \u2018Abbas Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhuma reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said,<\/p>\n \u201cHe who intends to perform\u00a0hajj\u00a0should hasten to do so.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\ufffd<\/strong>[Sunan Darimi, Vol. 2, Page 27]<\/strong><\/p>\n Hadith #2<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Hadrat \u2018Ali Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah (SallAllaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam said,\u00a0\u201cIf anyone possesses enough<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0provision and an\u00a0<\/u><\/em><\/strong>animal to mount on (or any other conveyance) to take him to the House of Allah and (despite this)\u00a0 does not perform the pilgrimage,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n there is no difference whether he dies\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>as a Jew or a Christian.
