Although all surahs of the Quran are miraculous and of divine origin.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam)<\/strong> singled out some of them and told us of their different virtues and blessings. Surat Baqarah <\/span>is the longest Surat in the Quran. It was the first Surat to be revealed at Medina, but different verses were revealed at different times, covering quite a long period so much so that the verses about riba (interest or usury) were revealed in the final days of Muhammad, after the conquest of Makkah (Maariful Quran).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Surat al-Fatihah is the introduction to the Quran. As such, <strong>Surah al-Baqarah<\/strong>&nbsp;can be regarded as its first chapter. In this surah, Allah (swt) introduces us to the Quran, and tells us about&nbsp;<strong>three different types of people<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">those who will benefit from the guidance of the Quran,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">those who won\u2019t, and<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">those who are only pretending to be people of the Quran.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The rest of the surat is a beautiful blend of history, life lessons, and instructions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">There are several hadith that inform us of different virtues of this surah. Let us look at some of them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Hazrat Abu Huraira (RH) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, \u201cDo not turn your houses into graves. Shaitan is barred from any house in which Surat al-Baqarah (2) is recited.\u201d [Muslim 780, 4: 1707]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The <strong>Prophet Mohammed (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam)<\/strong> was asked, \u2018Which part of the Qur\u2019an is the best?\u2019. He replied, \u2018The Surat in which the cow is mentioned\u2019. He was then asked \u2018Which part of that Surah?\u2019. He replied, \u2018The verse of the Throne and the last part of Surah al Baqarah came down from under the Throne\u2019<br>[Darimi 3248]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"recitation-of-surah-baqarah-benefits-we-will-discuss-few-in-light-of-hadith-references\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Recitation of Surah Baqarah Benefits we will discuss few in light of Hadith references<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Protection Against Devils<\/strong><br>The power of this surat as protection against Shaitan is described in different ways in the hadiths. The Prophet (sa) said that Shaitan flees from a house where Surat al-Baqarah is recited. (Muslim 780) He also said that magicians cannot confront this surah. (Muslim 804) He also pointed out the virtues of some specific ayat or sections of this sura. He said, for example, \u201cIf somebody recited the last two verses of <strong>Surat al-Baqarah<\/strong> at night, that will be sufficient for him.\u201d (Bukhari 5009)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Many of us know the virtues of&nbsp;<strong>Ayatul Kursi,<\/strong>&nbsp;which is a part of this blessed surah. If you recite it when you go to bed, you will be guarded from Shaytan until dawn.&nbsp;(Bukhari 5010)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Abu Ummamah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, \u201cWhoever recites Ayat Al-Kursi immediately after each prescribed Prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.\u201d&nbsp;[an-Nasa\u2019i, Ibn Hibban, Darimi 3249\/A]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000cd;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam)<\/strong> said, \u2018Whoever recites 4 verses from the first part of Surah al Baqarah, the verse of the Throne, two verses after the verse of the Throne and three verses from the last part of Surat al Baqarah, Satan would never come near him or the members of his family on that day, and nothing he despises would come near him or the members of his family, and never are these verses recited over a madman without him regaining his consciousness\u2019<br>[Darimi 3249\/A in the Book of Excellence of the Quran; Imam Mughirah ibn Subay\u2019 (rahimahullah) said:<em><strong>\u2018Whoever recites these ten verses before sleeping, will not forget the Quran.\u2019<\/strong><\/em>(Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 3385 &amp;
